CHANGES TO OFFICIALS TRAINING PROGRAM
Our national Racing Officials online Training Program has been in place for almost two years and has led to some fabulous outcomes for the sport.
We provided a summary at the recent National Forum, some of which we’ve replicated here. A massive increase in the number of accredited Officials and a large drop in the average age of Stewards and Scrutineers is future-proofing the sport, especially in areas that are recording large increases in competitors, and remote regions where it’s impractical to travel thousands of kilometres for in-person learning.
Over 1000 people have registered for the free program, which is a mix of a speedway-specific curriculum and a number of generic Sport Australia modules, aimed to provide a broad base of skills for Officials.
The Sport Australia modules were always a bit of a challenge and they’ve now made the decision to remove them as part of an overhaul of their training. We’re in the process of evaluating other options to replace them in conjunction with our provider eTrainu (as are many sports in the same position), so in the meantime the training platform doesn’t require the completion of anything other than the nine Speedway Australia modules.
We’ll advise when this changes, but in the meantime we are expecting a bit of a rush as there were a number of people who had completed most aspects of the training other than the AIS modules!
