SHORT ON OFFICIALS
If there’s one thing that upsets us, its race events being cancelled for any reason other than inclement weather.
One such example of this, is when tracks cancel an event because they are unable to obtain a Chief Steward to preside over a particular division.
Under Speedway Australia rules and regulations, it is the responsibility of the divisional body to provide the Stewards and Scrutineers for their respective racing division. Speedway Australia is investing heavily in increasing the number of these Officials nationwide. By reducing the costs of Officials licences, together with an online national training program, making it easier for Clubs and Divisions to engage new (and younger) people into becoming actively involved in our sport which removes the burden of travel and time away to conduct Race Officials training.
If you are in an Official and over the age of 40, consider an ‘apprentice’. Your guidance could make all the difference and encourage more young people to get involved in motorsport administration.
