SPEEDWAY TO RETURN IN THE TERRITORY!

The NT Government has mapped out a return to motorsport for the five speedway tracks in its jurisdiction, with a staged approach leading to full competition with spectators permitted by June 5.

Northern tracks were the most affected by the COVID-19 crisis, with the racing season just about to commence when restrictions were imposed.

The Northline Speedway, Katherine Speedway and Nhulunbuy Speedway venues are now in a position to examine the possibilities for a resumption of activities, while the improvement work underway at Arunga Park Speedway and Tennant Creek Speedway Club will now continue through to completion.

While this is great news, it would pay to allow some patience while the venue operators work through their processes, particularly as social distancing and other administrative requirements have to be implemented. For example, competition without spectators may occur from May 15, with full operation expected to be able to commence from June 5.

Check the relevant venue Facebook pages for more news, as the relevant organising committee’s work through the processes needed to restart their racing seasons.

We wish all venues and competitors a safe and smooth return to activity!
